Section 01

The Superlinked Platform

One open-source inference cluster for every small model an agent calls — plus a hosted Cloud and an MCP edge

Three Surfaces, One Engine

Surface 1 · Open source

SIE (self-hosted)

Apache 2.0 inference server + production cluster. Encode, Score, Extract, Generate through one API. OpenAI-compatible endpoints. Laptop → Kubernetes with the same image.

77 docs pages · Helm + Terraform (GKE/EKS/AKS/ACK) · 3,360 ★ · 317 forks · 18 open issues

Surface 2 · Managed

SIE Cloud

Same API, no cluster. Sign up at console.superlinked.com, get an API key, $20 in credits. SOC 2 Type 2, US/EU endpoints, inference-grant programme for selected projects.

api.superlinked.com (us-east-2) · eu.api.superlinked.com · keys sk-sie-… · credit-priced per model · marketed as SIE Serverless (launch pending) · docs: Cold starts & SIE Relay

Surface 3 · Agent edge

SIE MCP server

Self-hostable MCP server (packages/sie_mcp) that offloads document conversion, image description, doc-QA, summarisation, NER and PII masking from Claude / any MCP client to your cluster — saves agent tokens.

Docs Review — Source Pages
ClarityA"What is SIE?" states the four primitives and the why-exists argument (many small models on one GPU vs one big model on many) in two screens.
ConsistencyBFour framings for one product, verified 5 Oct: docs home says four primitives, 100+ models; the live README has a ten-row Tasks table (Search, Document to markdown, Structured output, Decide, Classify, Guard content, Agent loop, Translate, See images, Transcribe audio); /tasks shows four cards; the /models footer says "13 tasks, 85+ models". Partner docs (Chroma, Qdrant, LanceDB) still say 85+.
CloudCImproved: the docs nav now has a SIE Cloud section (one page: Cold starts and SIE Relay), and the site has /serverless and /native-inference product pages — both marked noindex (pre-launch). Still no public price list: pricing appears only as per-task comparisons and a "$50 example credit balance". superlinked.com/cloud and /cloud/quickstart (referenced by external project configs) remain unopened.
✅ What went well
Apache 2.0 for the whole stack, not just the server · README quickstart is copy-paste runnable · telemetry opt-out documented up front
⚠️ Could improve
One canonical primitives/tasks table shared by README, docs and marketing · A Cloud section in the docs (auth, endpoints, credits, rate limits) · Old surfaces lag: the GitHub wiki mirror says "three functions: encode, score, extract", partner docs say 85+ models, the legacy superlinked PyPI page says three capabilities

What Changed Since the August Sessions

Docs Review — Change Discoverability
Release notesADated, per-version, with Features / Bug fixes / Breaking changes. GitHub releases run to v0.9.0. Correction (14 Oct): the docs release-notes page is current — it lists v0.10.1 (13 Oct) at the top. The "docs page lags GitHub" caveat in v1.3 came from a stale fetch and was wrong.
Docs vs repoCThe docs Examples page lists 20; the repo gallery has 53 rows. The "More examples on GitHub" section is hand-maintained and already stale. Nothing on the docs points at the two external project guides.
⚠️ Could improve
Generate the docs examples index from examples/README.md · A "what's new" digest on the docs home (the launch banner is 8 months old) · Third-party caches carry stale star/fork counts (1.9K, 2.7K, 262 forks) — the site nav (3.4K) and GitHub (3,360) now agree

Serverless, Native Inference & the Launch Plan

From superlinked.com/serverless, /native-inference and the 13 Oct community-channel update. pre-launch both product pages carry noindex; the community post is not public documentation.

OptionWhat it is (their words, condensed)
Serverless"Pay per call, no GPUs to run": one API, 21 task recipes, 129 models, 9 integrations. SOC 2 Type 2, US or EU residency, SDK/API/CLI/MCP, "zero lock-in — self-host the same stack". Live code runner is a waitlist; example: $50 credit ≈ 1.3B tokens embedded, 120k pages parsed, 27M tokens generated. Migration snippets from OpenAI, Anthropic, Bedrock and Textract.
Native InferenceA platform licence for SIE Cluster with Superlinked engineers in a shared Slack, helping answer customers' security reviews; SIE stays Apache-2.0. Loop: Eval → Choose → Post-train → Ship. Deploy in your cloud or your customer's, incl. air-gapped; Terraform for AWS, GCP, Azure, Alibaba Cloud; per-tenant worker pools. Case study: GoodData (founder interview "coming soon").
SIE Cluster / LocalCluster: Terraform + Helm, scale-to-zero, Apache-2.0. Local: pip install "sie-server[local]" && sie-server serve (Apple Silicon / NVIDIA) or ghcr.io/superlinked/sie-server:latest-cuda13-sglang-cu130.
Why launch slipped (community update): "overhead-free metering and billing — very tricky for tiny fast models"; a talk on it is being considered. A new landing page is at superlinked.com/home-next (not opened).

What the team is asking for, and doing

1
Feedback: "how would you explain SIE to people? What problems do small language models solve for you?" — draft answers on the feedback slide.
2
Tasks as the on-ramp: each of 23 task pages "comes with an eval and specific ideas" and compares the small model with alternatives on cost, quality and latency (next section).
3
Industries (7): legal, finance, insurance, healthcare, manufacturing, e-commerce, retail. Job functions (2): /security, /sre.
4
Events & content: ODSC West, an SGLang summit (Luma), YouTube / Instagram / TikTok. "Non-trivial marketing budget" for community builders, including sponsored compute for projects.
5
Comparisons to write: SIE vs llm-d (also a full-stack K8s inference solution) and GPU fractionalisation vs HAMi — "black box vs white box". (A July post already covers llm-d vs Dynamo vs SIE; HAMi has none yet.)
Docs Review — New Product Pages
ClarityANative Inference leads with the buyer's pain (four security-review findings: FINMA, CMMC L2, NHS DSPT, Nova Scotia PIIDPA) and a clear "licence + engineers, engine stays Apache-2.0" model. Serverless shows a runnable snippet in Python, TypeScript, curl and an agent prompt for every task.
ConsistencyCTask counts: meta description "21 task recipes", the picker shows 22 (adds Translation), the nav lists 23 (adds typed-decisions and request-routing, drops Translation). Model counts: 129 here, "100+" in docs, 85+ in the catalog footer. Run-time model ids also differ: the migration panel uses Qwen/Qwen3.5-4B while the recipes use Qwen3.8-27B-FP8.
PricingDNo price list. Only per-task comparisons and the "$50 example balance"; the Guardrails card on the same page shows "No verdict returned" in its output panel (a rendering gap, 14 Oct).
⚠️ Could improve

Migration guides exist for: OpenAI, Cohere, TEI, Infinity, Fastembed and Modal → SIE. The Modal one matters if a sandbox already runs there; the companion blog ("Modal wins on bursty compute; SIE wins on sustained inference") is the honest framing.
Docs Review — Persona Mapping
ClarityBThe docs "I want to… → Go to" table is good for tasks, not personas. The site's /tasks page is the real persona entry point, and it lives outside the docs.
PrerequisitesBPython 3.12 for native install is stated in the README but not in the docs quickstart link text. Node for the TypeScript SDK is assumed.

Wire format: msgpack by default; send Accept: application/json for JSON. /v1/generate wants the SIE-safe id (Qwen__Qwen3-4B-Instruct-2507); the SDKs convert slashes for you.
Docs Review — Primitive Overview Pages
ClarityAEach primitive has an overview + 2–4 subpages (Sparse, Multi-vector, Multi-modal, Quantization under Encode). Consistent verb naming end to end.
ExamplesAEvery endpoint in the HTTP reference ships a curl request and a response body. Typed request/response schemas are given as Python TypedDicts.
GotchasBThe double-underscore model id for /v1/generate and the "chat/completions is gateway-only (dev convenience on sie-server)" caveat are documented but easy to miss. GLiNER 2.5 thresholds changed in v0.6.10 — only in release notes.
⚠️ Could improve
Generate is still labelled "(preview)" in the endpoint table while the README calls it a core task · No single page explains which endpoints are sie-server vs gateway-only in prose · Embeddings endpoint caps at 256 inputs (v0.6.25) — only in release notes

The Task Layer: What the README Sells (live: 10 tasks)

The README frames SIE by agent task; every model name links to its config, whose sie_id is what you pass to the SDK. Rewritten 5 Oct from the live README — the earlier 5-row version was stale.

Docs Review — Tasks Framing
ClarityA"Task → models" with every model name linking to its config file (whose sie_id is what you pass) is exactly what a builder needs.
ConsistencyCTask counts disagree: README 10, /tasks 4 cards (Search /encode, Document to markdown /extract, Guard content /generate, Run the agent loop /generate), /models footer "13 tasks", docs sidebar 4 primitives. Guard content is tagged /generate on /tasks although GLiGuard and Opir are served through /extract.

Docs Review — Eval Cards
HonestyALosses are shown (named entities, image classify, typed decisions, rerank vs Luna) and several cards expose the number of questions behind them (e.g. 6,200, 499, 437, 400, 275). Rare in vendor material.
ConsistencyBThe same chat eval reads 0.989 for Qwen3.8 27B on /serverless but 1.000 on /security (and 683 ms vs 0.74 s). Guardrails ground truth matches the gallery example (F1 0.827 vs the example's 82.7 %), but GPT-6.1 Sol appears as 0.787–0.790 here and "Sol 76.1 %" in the example (different reasoning settings).
ProvenanceBEvals are Superlinked's own; hosted competitor prices will drift. Quality axes are task-specific, so rows are not comparable to each other.
⚠️ Could improve

Quickstart, Cloud & Deployment

Four Ways to Get a Server

# 1. macOS (Apple Silicon) or Linux, native — Python 3.12
pip install "sie-server[local]" && sie-server serve

# 2. Linux, NVIDIA GPU (encode/score/extract)
docker run --gpus all -p 8080:8080 \
  -v sie-hf-cache:/app/.cache/huggingface \
  ghcr.io/superlinked/sie-server:latest-cuda12-default

# 2b. Generation image (Qwen/Gemma via SGLang)
docker run --gpus all -p 8080:8080 \
  -v sie-hf-cache:/app/.cache/huggingface \
  ghcr.io/superlinked/sie-server:latest-cuda12-sglang

# 3. Linux, CPU — enough for dev and the tiered-router smoke test
docker run -p 8080:8080 \
  -v sie-hf-cache:/app/.cache/huggingface \
  ghcr.io/superlinked/sie-server:latest-cpu-default

curl http://localhost:8080/readyz   # expect: ok

4. SIE Cloud (no cluster)

1
Sign up: console.superlinked.com → playground → API key. $20 credits.
2
Point the SDK: SIEClient("https://api.superlinked.com", api_key=...) (EU: eu.api.superlinked.com; keys are sk-sie-…). Since v0.9.0 both SDKs also read SIE_API_KEY from the environment when the URL shares the origin of SIE_BASE_URL; v0.10.1 adds a hosted-service fallback — self-hosted users must now set SIE_BASE_URL or an explicit base URL.
3
Same code everywhere: most gallery "recorded examples" ran on Cloud; fetch.py + score.py reproduce published numbers with no key.
Bundles matter: images are bundle-specific so incompatible model families stay isolated — default, transformers5 (LightOnOCR, GLM-OCR), sglang (generation), sglang-vision-extract, sglang-cu130 (was cuda13-gemma, renamed v0.7.2), opt-in TensorRT-LLM (v0.7.3).

Install the SDK: pip install sie-sdk · npm install @superlinked/sie-sdk. Notebook: examples/quickstart.ipynb (runs on a free Colab GPU).

Docs Review — Quickstart
ClarityADocker CPU/GPU/generation images + native (sie-server[local], Python 3.12), each copy-pasteable; first-call weight download behaviour is explained. Verified against the live README.
PrerequisitesBPython 3.12 stated; GPU driver / CUDA 12.9 requirement and disk size for the HF cache are not.
CloudCDocs now include SIE Cloud → Cold starts and SIE Relay (see that slide), but still no Cloud quickstart page in the docs nav. Verified from external project env-vars and the gallery guides: hosts api.superlinked.com (us-east-2) and eu.api.superlinked.com; keys sk-sie-… from console → Keys. Unverified: superlinked.com/cloud and /cloud/quickstart.

SIE Relay & Cold Starts (new SIE Cloud docs section)

The first page in the docs' new SIE Cloud section. Dedicated GPU capacity can scale to zero; while it restarts, SIE Relay may answer through a vetted inference partner instead of making you wait.

QuestionAnswer (docs, 14 Oct)
When is a request relayed?Only before dedicated capacity accepts it (never runs twice), when the model has scaled to zero or is starting. Same validation, same response format, same price; latency and output "can differ slightly".
Never relayedEmbedding and rerank requests (Relay serves only generation and extraction) · requests with X-SIE-Remote: forbid · org opted out · named dedicated profiles · grammar-constrained structured output · batch/jobs APIs · no partner in your key's region.
Relay-only modelsSome models/profiles are served only via Relay and labelled so in the console (e.g. zai-org/GLM-5.3-Flash:relay in the OpenCode example).
Who served it?Headers X-SIE-Served-By (local/remote), X-SIE-Upstream (sie-relay), X-SIE-Fallback-Reason (provisioning), X-SIE-Fallback-Error. SDK ≥ 0.10.0 exposes them as result["request"] (served_by, upstream, …) / result.request.
Data handling"Partners state that they keep no copy of the requests". Availability is per region; an unpinned key is checked against the deployment that receives the request.
from sie_sdk import SIEClient

# Every request from this client stays on dedicated capacity
client = SIEClient(
    "https://api.superlinked.com",   # be explicit (v0.10.1 hosted fallback)
    api_key=os.environ["SIE_API_KEY"],
    remote="forbid",                 # sends X-SIE-Remote: forbid
)
r = client.generate("Qwen/Qwen3.5-4B", "…", max_new_tokens=64)
print(r["request"].get("served_by"))   # "local" expected
Opt-outs: client option remote="forbid" (client-wide — there is no per-call option, so use a second client) · org-wide in console Settings → SIE Relay (owners/admins), after which relay-only models answer 403 THIRD_PARTY_SERVING_DISABLED.
Cold-start behaviour without Relay: 503 PROVISIONING + Retry-After (5–300 s on native endpoints, ≤ 60 s on OpenAI-compatible ones). SDKs wait up to 900 s by default (provision_timeout_s / provisionTimeout). v0.10.1: Python makes one final attempt after the last wait, so it can overshoot the budget by one attempt timeout.
Docs Review — SIE Relay
ClarityAComplete and honest: lists every case where relay does not happen, gives exact headers, error codes and the opt-out in three forms, and states the price rule.
TrustCThe partner is never named, the "vetted" bar is not defined, the supported-region list is absent, and "state that they keep no copy" is the partners' claim, not an audit. For a security audience that is the first question.
DefaultsBOn by default; no per-call opt-out; ProvisioningError carries no request metadata in current SDKs.
⚠️ Could improve
Name partners and regions in the docs · Add a per-call remote option · Offer an opt-in default for orgs with data-residency rules · Cross-link from the Native Inference security-review page

The One-Line Migration

❌ Before (per-token API)
from openai import OpenAI
client = OpenAI(api_key="sk-...")
r = client.embeddings.create(
    model="text-embedding-3-small",
    input=["Hello world"])
✅ After (your GPU or SIE Cloud)
from openai import OpenAI
client = OpenAI(base_url="http://localhost:8080/v1",
                api_key="unused-locally")
r = client.embeddings.create(
    model="BAAI/bge-m3",
    input=["Hello world"])

Same response objects. Works with LangChain OpenAIEmbeddings too. Cohere clients get /v1/rerank and /v2/rerank (v0.6.21).

Frameworks (5)

LangChain, LlamaIndex, Haystack, DSPy, CrewAI — Python + TypeScript guides. sie-langchain gives SIEEmbeddings and SIEReranker (a ContextualCompressionRetriever drop-in).

Vector DBs (4)

Chroma (sie-chroma, dense + sparse functions, on Chroma's own docs), Qdrant (native sparse), Weaviate (v4 client, enrichment), LanceDB (incremental table enrichment).

Blog insight

"SIE vs hosted embedding APIs: ~97% of the quality at ~1/12th the cost" and "SIE vs OpenAI: use OpenAI for frontier models, SIE for private open-model inference" — the two posts that justify a tiered design.

Docs Review — Migrate + Integrations
ClarityASix migration guides, each a before/after. The Infinity one is also the best technical comparison on the site.
ExamplesBThe OpenAI-compat chat path (/v1/chat/completions) is documented in the API reference but the OpenAI → SIE migration guide is embeddings-centric.
CoverageBChroma integration lives on docs.trychroma.com with a model count ("85+") that lags SIE's own "100+".
⚠️ Could improve
Extend OpenAI → SIE to chat/completions and responses · Keep partner-hosted pages in sync (model counts) · Note that dimensions on /v1/embeddings is now rejected if unsupported (v0.7.2) rather than silently downcast

Scale-to-zero is the pitch: KEDA scales GPU pools from zero per pool · machine_profile · bundle; you pay for GPU only while inference runs. Provisioning returns 503 + Retry-After (v0.6.5, was 202) — the SDKs wait up to 900 s by default.
v0.9.0 upgrade warning: NATS auth on by default, no default gateway Ingress, split admin tokens — read the "Releases since August" slide before helm upgrade.

The catalog page itself lags the repo: its Generate table shows five models and omits Qwen3.8-27B, GLM and translategemma. Model counts now disagree three ways: 129 on /serverless, "100+" in docs and README, 85+ in the catalog footer.
Docs Review — Model Catalog

FreshnessBThe catalog page is server-rendered and readable, but lags: no Qwen3.8-27B, GLM-5.3-Flash or translategemma in Generate; no Qwen3Guard or GLiNER2.5-Decide rows; footer says "85+ models" vs docs "100+". Release notes and READMEs lead it by weeks.
GotchasBProfile-specific context windows (Qwen3.6-27B base = 4K; 32K only on RTX PRO 6000 profile) are easy to trip over; Donut-rvlcdip was removed in v0.6.10.

Engineering Deep Dives

57 posts on the index (54 since the Feb 2026 launch) · comparisons, benchmarks, talks

Key Posts, Grouped by What They Decide

Should I self-host at all?

Feb 4 2026 — the thesis: many small models on one GPU is the opposite problem to LLM serving.
Daniel Svonava, Jul 10 — the honest break-even argument.
Jun 25 — the number to quote for R2/M2 cost-tiering.
Jun 5 — companion to "cut token usage" post.

SIE vs the alternatives

Aug 25 — Modal wins bursty compute; SIE wins sustained inference.
Aug 25–26 — "frontier via OpenAI, private open-model via SIE".
Jul 27 — four comparison posts on one day; the site has a /comparisons index.
May 17 — vLLM, SGLang, TEI, Triton, KServe, SIE side by side.

Routing, agents, security

May 8–11 — the two routing posts that pre-date and predict the tiered router.
Talks, Aug 17 / Sep 21 — plus the AI Engineer Europe 2026 "Why we built SIE" video.
Ritik Sah & Tanvir Farhad (the Sieve hackathon team; the example is their DUSK project), 7 Aug — the behavioural-gate post behind T6.
Sep 21 — grounding + a kernel-level deep dive.
Docs Review — Blog
ClarityAComparison posts state who wins where rather than always SIE ("Modal wins on bursty compute"). Categories (Agents, Retrieval, Embeddings, Document Processing, Cost Savings, Talks) are consistent.
